part of the reason the assembly separated when the car was lifted is that the spring rate may not have been stiff enough or the springs were a bit too short. my spring rate is rather soft, and if i were to keep the perch threaded all the way down rather than all the way up, it would probably be more prone to separate, but while it is threaded to the top, there is ample pressure to hold the spring assembly tight.
